Wish I’d Thought of This Department

I predict great success for this business.

Cases? Per week?

Holy smoke, hide the womenfolk! This guy is dangerous! Are we sure it’s the statement that’s that long?

If it’s any consolation, sir, I rather doubt the President takes the time to look over your 32 foot long - er - credit card statement….

Drawing Conclusions out of Thin Air

You be the judge. A theatre decides - with absolutely no reason given for the decision - not to show a given movie.

The reporter then solicits a quote from someone (with an agenda) which states as a flat fact why the movie was not shown.

But it could be for any number of reasons including financial. (This flick isn’t exactly breaking box-office records).

It may very well have been for the reason stated by the activist, but it also may not have been.

For the record, while I wouldn’t care to see it (not because I’m homophobic, but because it looks stunningly boring), I have no problem with anyone who does want to see it.

What I do have a problem with is lazy, slanted and sloppy reporting. Oh, and reporting straight opinion as fact is very sloppy.

The Sky is Falling Department

This is rather amusing. Really, if you read it, you can see where some of the hysteria comes from.

The line:

“Television in particular has an affinity for action, suspense, drama, and
danger, and ‘big weather’ delivers on all counts,” said Carol Wilder, chair of
the Media Studies Department at The New School in New York.

Explains quite a lot about a lot more than just the weather………

I read a comment on another blog relating that media is not really about news as much as it is about drama. I think there is something to that analysis.

Cry Fowl

This is not good news. But it is not time to panic, either.
