Today’s Oxymoron: Business Ethics!
A business professor from the University of Southern California has been arrested on charges of swindling students and other investors in a real estate fraud scheme.
"Barry Landreth, who had taught real estate finance and development at the university, stole at least $1.5 million (860,000 pounds) in the first 10 months of 2005, telling students and other investors he would buy land in Chicago and Las Vegas and then sell it for large profits, an FBI affidavit said".
Instead of buying land, he simply took the money and apparently financed his stable of show horses with the proceeds. Landreth was a part-time lecturer at the University.
Well, all I can say is that I really, really hope that Landreth is an exception at US business schools. Having people like this teaching business is like having Sudan teach Human Rights…….
