An Indian man and his wife have been told by local Islamic leaders that they are divorced and must separate. The woman told friends that the husband had muttered the word ‘divorce’ three times in his sleep. The local leaders decided this constituted a divorce under Sharia law. They were told they would have to stay apart at least 100 days and that the woman must marry another, spend the night with the new husband and then get divorced. That would clear the way for the original couple to remarry.
Got that?
Incidently, the story also mentions that at least one sane Muslim voice was raised. An Islamic scholar says something muttered in one’s sleep would not constitute a divorce.

A Michigan man has been sentenced to six months probation and ordered to perform 50 hours of community service for shooting at his neighbors model airplanes.
"Nuttle used a .410-gauge shotgun to shoot at the planes. He said his shots hit only one plane, causing two tiny holes in it. The plane he is paying for crashed when the child who was operating it lost control of it after being frightened by the shots, Nuttle said.
Nuttle told the judge he regretted his actions.
"I felt I was defending my family and my property from these airplanes, and I called police several times," he said. "But I made a bad decision that day and I realize that."
All joking aside, this guy is a complete idiot and should NOT be allowed to own guns. Jerks like this make it harder and harder for responsible, law-abiding gun owners.

Mickey Kaus wonders if illegal immigration isn’t THE hot button issue Republicans need for the mid-term elections. His argument is that the President can continue to hold to his guest worker plan while individual Republican candidates can "get tough". Are any Republican strategists paying attention here?

They are trying to keep any mention of the Mexican flags from reaching the general public it would seem. Here’s the link he posts to the LA Times photographs of the march. One of Kaus’ readers points out a disturbing element in one photo. Before the editors make the banner disappear, I copied it. Note the banner "This is Stolen Land". Nice.
Patterico also points out something the press and the "advocates" don’t. The bill to make illegal immigration a felony (it is already a crime) would ONLY ADD SIX MONTHS to the penalty already in place. As he says: "big deal". This is hardly a draconian law. But the media is misleading (big surprise there) about this law and what it does and does not do. I trust Patterico’s analysis on this, he is a prosecutor, after all.
