Bush Folds Card
Ok, bad pun in the title but it was too good to pass up.
Andy Card, White House Chief of Staff, has resigned.
One thing I find troubling here. Report after report states that Bush has been under pressure from Republicans to shake up his staff. I can’t find one single quote from a Republican saying that. Just the assertion that there are some. Does anyone have any direct quotes? Or is the press making this up?

There is likely some pressure behind the scenes.
I don’t make too much of this Andy Card resignation. Gosh, most of Bush’s people have been there almost the entire length of his presidency. I imagine some of them are getting tired of of the 14 hour days, constantly on call.
I only wish I had known Card would end up being such a big cheese. I had to hang around the political office in the Old Executive Office Building one night to give him something. This was when he worked for the Transition staff to Bush I.
I would have stuffed a resume in his hands if I had known.

Might be, but I still can’t get one attributed quote, only the nebulous “some Republicans”. That bugs me.
