World Champion!

Don King is proud to announce he has signed a new fighter and is planning a title fight soon. "As soon as she beats these bogus charges of assaulting a police officer, she’ll be free to beat the tar out of a worthy contender in the ring," said the legendary boxing promoter.

Clooney To Star In Syriana Sequel

(Hollywood) - George Clooney, following his Oscar win for Syriana, has announced that he will write, produce, direct and star in a blockbuster sequel. Entitled Syriantarctica, it is the story of a courageous CIA agent who teams with the local population to foil a nefarious CIA plot to take over the continent of Antarctica to secure the region’s blubber-rich inhabitants to provide oil for the United States insatiable greed for SUVs. Arianna Huffington has agreed to co-star as Zsa Zsa, a rich limousine liberal who helps out by putting together bits and pieces of information to make a blog entry.

Blue Crab Boulevard has secured an exclusive still captured from the movie, even though it has not even begun production yet. Damn, we are good.

Nebraska CCW Passes

Despite an attempted filibuster, the Nebraska legislature finally passed a Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) law. The governor has promised to sign the bill. The new law ia a "shall issue" law, meaning that if the defined standards are met, every law-abiding citizen will get a permit. (In other words, local authorities cannot act capriciously to stop the permit). The only exception is within the city of Omaha (which actually has a separate CCW law on it’s books). Only Wisconsin and Illinois have no carry permits, although 10 of the states that have permits actually make it a practical impossibility to actually get one.

Nebraska’s law does not recognize reciprocity. (All you kiddies with Utah non-resident CCW permits pay attention here!)

The linked post, by David Kopel of the Volokh Conspiracy, gives a really good rundown of laws nationwide.

The Problem With Believing Your Own Hype

Let me make one thing clear before I start. I don’t care for Howard Stern. It’s not that he offends me, it’s that after a while (I tried listening for a while) his shtick got boring. It was almost the same show, day after day. At least that was how it seemed to me.

That said, one thing Stern has always been very, very good at was self-promotion. He has used every opportunity he has been given - and then some - to keep the spotlight on himself. I always thought it was very calculated, but still he has done it well.

It seems that Howard has fallen into a dangerous trap, though. It appears that he is believing that he actually is important. Otherwise, how do you explain his cursing at former fans who simply don’t want to pay for satellite radio to listen to him? I think I remember (shooting from the lip here) that Sirius expected 10-12 million people to follow Stern to the radio service. It appears that only 4 million or so have actually done so. Now Stern is cursing at the people that didn’t follow him.

"I want to say to my audience … `You haven’t come with me yet? How dare you? We’re up to wild, crazy stuff, the show has never sounded better. You cheap bastard!’"

I don’t know about you, but I don’t tend to get motivated to do something by being insulted.

A Few Questions

There are a few questions that have occurred to me over the past few days when thinking about all the ruckus over illegal immigrants. Maybe members of a few traditional Democratic party constituencies could answer these.

For union members: By supporting unrestrained illegal immigration, the Democrats are guaranteeing that there will be a large pool of labor that will work more cheaply than your members will. How is the Democratic party agenda helping you?

For teachers: By supporting a huge influx of illegal immigrants, the Democrats are guaranteeing that you will work in overcrowded classrooms and that the overcrowding will continue to grow. How is the Democratic party agenda helping you?

For African-Americans: By supporting huge numbers of low paid immigrant workers, the Democrats are forcing wages for your most at-risk group, young black males, to ever lower numbers. How is the Democratic party agenda helping you?

For gays and lesbians: By allowing ever-increasing numbers of illegal immigrants the Democrats are guaranteeing a larger group of people who bring with them a culture that does not tolerate gays and lesbians very well. How is the Democratic party agenda helping you?

Just a few questions. That’s all.

Oh, incidentally, a question for Republican politicians: What good will gathering support from business lobbys bring you if your constituency won’t come out and vote for you because you betrayed them for a few dollars in your campaign chests?

Screaming Howie Seeks Oscar!

Howard "Screaming Howie" Dean continues in his quest to secure an Oscar nomination in the Best Actor in a Complete Farce category.

Speaking in a union hall in Oakland, California, Dean explicitly tried to tie President Bush to legislation that Bush does not support. Howie knows Bush doesn’t support the legislation and in fact holds a position almost identical to Howie’s. Even the AP had to admit that Howie got this one wrong. Heck, Howie didn’t just get it wrong, he lied.

That, of course, in no way hinders the truthiness of Howie’s accusation.

“It was such a large moment in history that nobody knows about, and I just love that”

Says Filmmaker Quincy Perkins. Perkins has just made a 16-minute long movie detailing one of those odd moments in history.

On August 14th, 1945, Thomas E. Jones was a 16-year old messenger in Washington, D.C. He was given a message to deliver to the White House. On his way to deliver it, he stopped for pancakes, flirted with waitresses, hung out with a few friends and was stopped by a policeman for making an illegal U-turn. Eventually, he made it to the White House and delivered his message.

The Message announced that Japan had surrendered.

Such a small thing, isn’t it?

What A Surprise!

Cynthia McKinney plays the race card!

"Let me be clear. This whole incident was instigated by the inappropriate touching and stopping of me, a female black congresswoman," McKinney said. "I deeply regret that this incident occurred."

"Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, like thousands of average Americans across this country, is, too, a victim of the excessive use of force by law enforcement officials because of how she looks and the color of her skin," [said James W. Myart Jr., one of McKinney's lawyers].

Well, despite the allegations, I really doubt that it was the color of her skin that was the issue. However, if you were a police officer entrusted with protecting the lives of members of congress, would you be doing your job if you didn’t stop someone who looked like this:

(Fox News Photo)

Hell, this picture scared the cat, for God’s sake.

McKinney’s playing of the race card in a situation where she was so clearly in the wrong, makes a mockery of herself and her office. She should be ashamed. Or be put on medication or something.

Flag Waving

A school principle in Longmont, Colorado has banned all display of flags, American or any other. He has also suspended students who had displayed the American flag in defiance of his policy.

Skyline High School Principal Tom Stumpf said American flags were brazenly waved in the faces of Hispanic students and in one case a Mexican flag was thrown into the face of another student.

"When it involves the American flag and its abuse in vilifying other people, we simply will not tolerate it," Stumpf said. "They were using the symbol derisively as misguided patriotism."

Misguided? I don’t think it’s the students who are misguided here, Tom. The backlash is beginning with the high school kids.

On a related note, Blue Crab Boulevard has obtained an exclusive photograph of the latest outrage performed by flag-waving illegal aliens. Go tell this guy he can’t carry a flag, Tom.
