Blue Star

Well, if I did the cut and paste right, I just put a "Blue Star Dad" image up in the sidebar. For those who understand it, it needs no explanation. For those who don't, it means I have a soldier deployed in Iraq. My son, to be exact.

It started during the First World War and was brought back for the Second World War. I don't remember it being used much during Vietnam, although I'm sure it was by at least a few people. It signifies a family member is serving on active duty in a war.

It means we here at home are so very, very proud of them.

It means, to me, that our service people are out there protecting even those who do not respect them for what they do.

Congratulations, Blue Star Dad. May your son come home in peace and honor, along with his fellows, to the joyful acclaim of a grateful nation.

Gauis – thanks for joining Blue Star Blogroll. I just added your blog to the roll (I’ve been out of town or I’d have done it sooner).

You are #77 on the roll :)

Let me know if you want the blog roll and I’ll send it to you.

Do you have a Blue Star Banner? I got one from a blogger who makes them and they are much nicer than some that you can buy. She has a website here: http://www.starsofblue.com/

BTW – my son is being deployed next week. Very scary.

May he stay safe, Beth. My son is home for another week then heads back. He just got married on Sunday.

    Gaius,

I just realized I already had you on the blogroll (I thought I had – but I just got a pingback from this post and saw April and read it as August – so went and added you again).

My excuse is a serious lack of sleep over the past week!!!

Sorry for being confused for a few minutes there. So you were added back in April and I deleted the one I added a while ago.

I don’t know why it just pinged back to me a little bit ago from April?? Who knows!

Anyway … I read about your son – how nice! I’m so glad he got to come home to get married. I’m glad you are getting to visit with him. Although, with a wedding, you probably haven’t been able to spend that much time with him …. :)
