It seems the tempest of the day involves Michelle Malkin and the University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC) anti-war group Students Against War (SAW). (I have a post around here somewhere on that little group's antics). To recap; military recruiters attended a job fair at UCSC. The folks from SAW made a very vocal demonstration against them. University officials feared that the demonstration appeared to be heading toward possible violence. The recruiters left rather than let the situation escalate.
In other words, SAW doesn't understand what free speech is and believe they have the right to stifle it in the name of their cause.
Michelle Malkin, staunchly conservative, decried the SAW actions and posted information from the SAW group's own website that happened to include the some of the students phone numbers. SAW had put the information there in press release format labeled "for immediate release". This is an important point; Malkin did not dig up confidential information, she posted the SAW press release.
Here's where it gets ugly. Some people have reportedly been making threats, including death threats, against the SAW members. These include email and telephone threats. When the left-wing sites began decrying Malkin's publication of the SAW press release, Malkin began receiving abuse and threats, including death threats.
From my perspective: The SAW people are a bunch of idiots. If you post your contact info you can not whine when someone actually uses it. Malkin did absolute nothing wrong to post the SAW press release. The people sending threats in either direction should be tracked down and jailed. Period. Freedom of speech does NOT include the right to threaten others.
Malkin might want to consider deleting the phone numbers since she's now aware that there are some loons out there that are misusing them. I do not believe she is obligated to do so, but it might help calm the situation. The SAW group is now learning that some actions bear consequences. The lesson to anyone who can't figure it out for yourself – don't post contact info if you don't want to be contacted.
Maybe it’s time some self righteous Lefty picked up the slack and started “outing” these antiwar students. “Outing” is an accepted practice for gay activists. And, the SAW students are objecting to military recruiters on campus partly on account of Bill Clinton’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.
So, if opposition to military recruiters is based on hostility to Liberal policy, and the Liberal Policy somehow hurts gays, and it’s OK for gays to “out” pretenders, why perhaps the time has come for gay activists to “out” SAW students.

Regarding how this all started, Michelle Malkin went to a cached page, took a screenshot, and posted the image on her site because didn't like the politics of the people. It's not her place to justify the disclosing of this information because she deemed that they were terrorizing people. That's an issue for the Santa Cruz police department to deal with, not her own brand of vigilante justice. As for her own personal details – Malkin included that on her own e-mail list and that's how it went public. She launched her personal information about herself BY herself. And the anti-racist One People's Project website promptly released her new details. Someone took it a step further and used live.windows.com and yahoo maps to do a Graphic. Payback's a bitch eh' Malkin? Her refusal to remove these kids contact information was not from conviction, but from revenue. Every journalist in the world knows that contact information on a press release is for journalists to call for more information or interviews, not to be published (or even pointed out) in the publication itself. If she were any kind of ethical person she would have pulled the information when asked. If she were something resembling a human being with "feelings", she would not have republished the information once the students themselves removed it. Michelle is a vicious, vindictive, venomous egoist with no discernible ethics nor even a shred of human decency. If she wants to be The Minority Woman Who Believes Minorities and Women Suck, that's her right. But she should at least have the integrity to acknowledge that she has done wrong and to stop compounding the wrong. And she should not give us that disingenuous crap about how she doesn't condone death threats and nobody should misuse her posting and reposting of personal information.

Thanks for themole’s comments. I’m well aware of the ongoing hostility directed against Michelle Malkin which is all too typical of the deranged Left. They can’t stand it when a minority individual won’t knuckle under to their bully boy tactics, and it gets especially nasty quite quickly when it’s a minority woman who rejects their dogma. The Lefty cowards like to pick on women.
Racism and hypocrisy are rampant among Lefty true believers, and the attacks on Malkin prove it.
