PowerLine is back up, and John has a post on this topic: Trouble with the Base. Lots of Trouble. Seems like maybe I’m not so far off the mark. Could be something’s blowin’ in the wind, if so, and no matter what it is, it’s an evil wind and sure to blow no good for the GOP and Conservatives.

Yes, that’s the root problem. But, I’m to the point now, mid-term elections, where if Republicans in Congress are indistinguishable from Dems, then the hell with them. I won’t vote for a Dem, nor will I vote for the GOP if they continue to ignore the issues I care about.

Bottom line, if the GOP refuses to represent my interests, they can’t expect my support. They get no contributions and no votes from me.

The problem is, Jack, how can I vote for a party that is fundamentally unserious about protecting this country?

I tend to be a “least worst” voter these days.

It’s getting to the point where the GOP has become a source of embarrassment to Conservatives. The Republican Party’s unprincipled attacks on opponents of the nomination of Harriet Meirs brought differences out into the open, and now, the spending, the rapid growth of government, the failure to secure the border, and the idiot amnesty program, combined with overt pandering on gasoline prices is just too much to take.

As it stands today, the GOP hasn’t earned my loyalty or my vote.
