On Polls And Illegal Immigrants
Last night I received a phone call from someone identifying himself as a Republican pollster. He wanted to know what I thought of the job George Bush was doing. Normally, I hang up on pollsters of any sort on general principle, but this time I answered. I told him I wasn't real happy with Bush at the moment. Unfortunately, that effectively ended the phone call before I could tell him why.
I'm unhappy right now because of the illegal immigration issue. I'm unhappy with a wide open border that nobody in our government seems to care about. I'm unhappy with people who are here illegally marching and demanding political power. I'm unhappy with a rumored pending Senate deal that effectively will give illegals a leg-up toward getting citizenship ahead of people who have waited patiently for a legal chance to come here. I'm unhappy with a State Senate endorsing illegal immigrant protests and sneakily declaring their support for open borders.
I'm also unhappy with the proponents of open borders calling anyone who opposes them a racist. Because opposing illegal immigration is not a racial issue to me at all. I could not care less where people are from and what color their skin is. I care very much that they come here legally and that they become Americans, not a permanent underclass with a different language and culture.

Amen. I do not care where these people come from, either - just do it legally.

The problem is: will you be happier with House Speaker Nazi Pelosi?

Pretty close to Godwin’s law, Mike. And no, I would not want Pelosi, but right now Bush is risking it.
