Removing Roadkill = Shuttle Safety
Officials from NASA are encouraging employees to report any roadkills they see. No, it's not to provide raw material for the cafeteria. The goal is to get grounds crews out to pick up the fresh-pressed critters before they attract vultures. They hope that by reducing the food source, the vultures will go somewhere else looking for dinner.
What prompted this was that a vulture hit the fuel tank of the shuttle Discovery as it was being launched. The bird did not cause any damage to the shuttle. No word on what the shuttle did to the bird. Although we suspect they called a grounds crew shortly afterwards……
