The Mother Of All Backfires
Gee, It's just great that May 1st is now a "a date when workers around the world often march for improved conditions" Now. It used to be the communist day of celebration. As in Soviet. As in marching and demonstrating to overthrow a government and install a communist replacement. But, hey, no matter. This May Day, we're being told we must grant full amnesty and citizenship to all illegal immigrants. Here's what one of the organizers says:
"There will be 2 to 3 million people hitting the streets in Los Angeles alone. We're going to close down Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Tucson, Phoenix, Fresno," said Jorge Rodriguez, a union official who helped organize earlier rallies credited with rattling Congress as it weighs the issue.
"We want full amnesty, full legalization for anybody who is here (illegally)," Rodriguez said. "That is the message that is going to be played out across the country on May 1."
Nice! You're organizing illegals to demand their rights to citizenship in a country they committed a crime to get to!
I suspect you haven't a clue what backlash you're going to generate, Jorge. Not a clue. A few illegals is sympathetic. An invasion is war. Guess which message you're sending?
I'm starting to smell a few things right now. The old techniques the Soviets used. Mass demonstrations, useful idiots and outside agitators. Sound familiar? Houston, we have a problem.

I just wanted to mention that May Day was never “a communist” day. It has always been a “workers” day. A quick trip to Wikipedia can fill you in. Also, I don’t think a person can be illegal. That would mean there were laws forbidding the existance of that person. Plus, the only crime they commited is not going through the proper channels to get proper documentation. Not much of a crime, really. I’d also like to say three things in Spanish: “La Niña, La Pinta y la Santa MarÃa”

Rodney,
The Soviets subverted May Day a long, long time ago. If you’re relying on Wikipedia for your history, you may want to get a second opinion. There can be some good data there. There can also be some very slanted entries.
Illegal refers to their status as immigrants. Not going though proper channels is the problem. I could care less about people who DO go through the right process to immigrate. They are what we are.
People who commit a crime to get here do NOT have a right to jump ahead of those who do it the right way.
Oh yeah, about the three Spanish words: Most of the illegals (status, not existence) are descended from the invaders, not true “native” stock. As if there was such a thing.

Not a bad idea at all, Dan! All Americans should buy - in quantity - to show the economic power of citizens! I love it. Do it legally, and you’re an American, do it illegally and you’re some who thinks cheating pays.

Gauis: I see you found someone to defend illegal entry from one country into another. I guess we no longer have to worry about the lefty complaint that our invasion of Iraq was “illegal.”
I saw somewhere where another lefty muttered something about borders just being lines on a map.
O…K…. so does that mean we can go down and begin drilling for oil in Mexico? After all, it’s just a line on the map, and who is to say what is legal or illegal? No one wants to stigmatize cross border exploitation now do we?
Oh, and here’s another golden insight into what the real problem is:

The agenda here goes much further than establishing these illegals as legal.
That’s step one.

Oh, I know, Mike. It’s a bad situation right now.
