Backlash Countdown

Well, there have been marches across the country at this point by people supporting illegal immigration. A side note is that a number of businesses that employ large numbers of illegals have now identified themselves by closing today or by complaining publicly that their workers didn't show up. That's a hint to the INS.

I have maintained all along that this was an appalling strategy that would result in an enormous backlash. As of right now Rasmussen is reporting that a third party candidate running on a tough immigration platform could pull off a win in a race for the White House.

Republicans and Democrats both better be scared of this. All of your jobs are in danger. All of them. My guess is that the turn out today will galvanize the majority against any politician that blocks meaningful reform. Start with the fence, folks or face reality at the polls.

UPDATE: Well, this will about guarantee an enormous backlash. Mexican unions are now calling for a boycott of US goods. No longer content with the foot as a target, they decide to shoot themselves in the head.
