Flight 93

I see a couple of comments out in the blogosphere and even from movie analysts that say, in effect, that Flight 93 didn't live up to it's hype. Well, aside from the obvious "spoiler" activity in these posts, they're also misleading.

According to Box Office Mojo, flight 93 opened on 1,795 screens and grossed over $11 million. Average is $6,465 per screen. The total gross puts it in second place.

But the first place film, RV, opened on twice as many screens, 3,639 and grossed $16 million for an average of $4,506 per screen.

Flight 93, in fact, is on fewer screens than any of the top ten movies listed on Box Office Mojo. These are very respectable numbers, indeed.

UPDATE: I should finish my thought before I hit the publish key. Flight 93 also only cost $15 million to make. So it has already covered 73% of it's production cost. RV cost $50 million, therefore covered only 32%. Flight 93 is going to be a very profitable movie by the time it's all said and done.

Update: Gary at Ex-Donkey has a review.
