Why Is It?

As we read the news this morning, why is it that our lips are moving. Oh, it's because we said all of this here at Blue Crab Boulevard.

"Send them back," McDonald said. "Build a damn wall and be done with it."

"How dare they," said McDonald, a research specialist for the University of Pittsburgh who said she voted for Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) in the 2004 presidential election. "If they are so active, why aren't they in Mexico City, why aren't they forcing their leaders there to deal with the quality of life? If you don't like it here, go home."

"A lot of people said immigrants were trying to make ends meet just like us. And then there were those who said that they're taking our jobs, they're taking our services, that they shouldn't be legal, that my forefathers were slaves, and these people haven't paid their dues."

"Frankly I think they're overplaying their hand," she said, adding, "I think people who may have been sitting on the fence are not sitting on the fence anymore. These marches are not helping the people they're intending to help."

Blue Crab Boulevard is available for political consultation for any lawmakers ready to buy a clue.

Build the damn fence first. First party to get it, wins. Buy a clue folks.

You keep harping on the fact that the majority of Americans want a fence, and that this is a “clue” for politicians to act upon. Clearly you have a very high opinion of the majority view of Americans.

What do the majority of Americans think of our presence in Iraq, and what do they want us to do now? Here’s a hint: Building an embassy larger than Vatican City probably isn’t the majority view. Oh, and be sure to use non-Iraqis (Kuwaitis?) to build the embassy; that should solidify Iraqi public opinion about the embassy. No wonder the walls are three meters thick.

If you read the Walter Williams piece I linked a while back, I’m in agreement with him (and Jefferson) on the view of the majority.

Back on topic, do you want to take a guess why neither side is willing to come out strongly on either side of this issue?

    Jim

Two main components: cheap labor and cheap votes
