Cover-ups

Anyone who has read this blog for any length of time knows I don't have a high opinion of Ted Kennedy. It's not his politics, although I agree with almost none of his positions. It's not his nasty partisanship. It's not his personal life, in general.

It's the way he skated on something that would have gotten any other person in this country lacking his money and family connections in serious trouble. Likely jail time. Then to preach about the rights of the downtrodden. Kind of sticks in my craw.

So, yeah, I take shots at him whenever I can, because I think he is a horrible person. Not political, quite honestly, it's personal. I would have died trying to save someone's life, not gone to get a nice rest before reporting an accident. In which someone died. So, yes, it's a personal yardstick. Yes, he doesn't measure up. I have no apologies for that position. That said, I do not ascribe the sins of the father to the offspring. I want that clear.

Now there are numerous reports that Ted Kennedy's son has been involved in an accident. Nobody was hurt, thankfully for all involved. Patrick Kennedy first denied any problem, then came out with another statement that said he'd actually taken the correct dosages of prescribed drugs which caused the reported staggering.

Sorry, that sounds a little too contrived, a little too self serving. Something is wrong here. Investigate this and try to get to the root of it. If it turns out that Patrick Kennedy was driving while under the influence, the people of his district should turn him out of office and get someone else. By the way. I'd be saying exactly the same thing regardless of what party the individual was in, so please don't start the partisan hacking.

UPDATE: Washington Post coverage this morning.

Patrick’s cock and bull story is coming apart at the seems. He claimed no alcohol was involved, that he was disoriented because of prescription meds, but he was seen drinking in one of his favorite bars earlier on the night of the crash. You can bet the MSM will spend about as much time and effort covering this story as they did looking for Lucy Ramirez.

A restless presence hangs uneasy over Ted Kennedy’s clan. Seeking justice, Mary Jo Kopechne’s shade comes whispering in the night. It’s no wonder the Kennedy’s drink.

I’m new to this site, so maybe I missed it. But if this is the case, perhaps you can point me to your call for an investigation into Dick Cheney avoiding a sobriety test until 13 hours after shooting someone in the face.

Matt, quit being a jerk. The only people who alleged that were not there. Period.

Cheney wasn’t treated differently then you or I would be if we shot a man in the face?
