Sen. Ensign, God bless him, offered an amendment suggesting illegals should not be eligible for Social Security benefits accrued while illegal.

The U.S. Senate voted to kill that amendment, 50-49.

Got that? They voted to kill an amendment that would have denied retroactive benefits. For people who used fraudulent papers.

God help us. I was starting to feel a little better about what might come out of the Senate. Not anymore.
