One Word
Lame.
Is issuing a "partial apology" anything like being sort of pregnant? Is adopting a "wait and see" attitude anything like hoping like hell everyone will forget you did this but also leaving a door open so that if Rove is ever indicted for anything - even jaywalking - you can trumpet your success?
Inquiring minds and all that.
Perhaps a name change to name to Truthyout is appropriate.
UPDATE: Jane Galt: "Are those burning trousers I smell?"

I glanced at the comments at TO. I am still pondering the remark “journalism is the first draft of history and who doesn’t make a mistake on a first draft” or something to that effect. The copy editor in me agrees with your word choice, Gaius. Lame.
One thought: A blogger is not a journalist by default. If a journalist decides to become a blogger, they need to either stick to the traditional parameters of journalism or indicate somewhere that their blog is op-ed rather than news reporting.
Another point with me which I may have stated here before: I find it increasingly difficult to dialogue with anybody, whether ‘liberal’ or ‘conservative,’ who regularly applies the circular logic of “well they lied first” or “they’re more wrong than I am.” I spent too many years raising kids to listen to that one from adults.

Yeah, you should look at some of the comment threads around here and the “reasoning” some people use.

At this point, I Truthout needs to fire Jason Leopold if they want to have any credibility.
