I Suspect You Won’t, Either

"I'd rather have a smaller following of really cool people who get it, who will grow with us as we grow and are fans for life, than people that have us in their five-disc changer with Reba McEntire and Toby Keith," Dixie Chick Martie Maguire told Time. We don't want those kinds of fans."

I rather suspect you'll get your wish on that one, Martie. Nice way to alienate your employers. The new Dixie Chicks album is not selling as well as their last one. Sales are off by close to 30%.

    Pipe down Martie:

You wouldn’t think a musician could possibly be so tone deaf. But, there you have it. Arrogance plus ignorance, combined with a loud mouth not only impairs auditory abilities, but also produces economic distress.

I saw the Dixie Chicks on Larry King’s show last night, and couldn’t believe my eyes and ears. They have a new album out at number one and are making the rounds on a PR campaign to rebuild their career.

Now, clearly, those girls are quite talented, their music is excellent, but their arrogance is limitless. Time and time again they were given an opportunity to mend fences, to focus on their music and to put the past behind them.

But, they obstinately poked and prodded, made jokes, and bashed their critics. They were obviously so pleased with themselves and preening to an extent as astonishing to watch as it was devoid of even a semblance of justification. They say, pride goes before a fall, and the Dixie Chicks just jumped off the bridge.

If they think the backlash last time was bad, they’re likely to have to revise that opinion once this latest outrage becomes widely known. Someone who cares about them, their career, and their future in country music just might want to suggest they shut up and sing, because the more they talk, the more likely they’re going to end up having to pay people to listen to their idiot rant.

I don’t know where these girls are coming from, but it ain’t Dixie.
