Here, you turn 14, you got a photo ID.
No matter who you are, the school takes your picture, and then they will give you a photo ID – address, mother’s maiden name, place and date of birth, ID Number, ID Card Number, whatever.

Everyone, has a photo ID by default.

Of course, if you loose it, and don’t ask for a new at the police or local government, you won’t have it.
But then, if the police stops you and ask for your ID, you can’t identify yourself, and will be taken into custody – most of the time of course, you are only stopped by the police on the street if you look like a beggar, a criminal, are drunk, or they are looking for someone, so it is not a daily occurence.
Also, if you have an ID, but you can’t present it to the police, you will be fined.

You have to have a photo ID to cash a check or drive a car, but not to vote. How crazy is that?

What I don’t quite get is: you really don’t have a photo ID in the US?
Really? I mean, how can you say that the guy is who claims to be?
Without a photo?
