[...] Ever get invited somewhere only to find out your there to make it easier on the inviter? Tracey has. We’ve all been there, she reflects on it. There are so many great things to link to, but I’m getting really tired and can’t do all the nice chit-chatty-lead-in stuff right now, and while I know I am missing many important bloggers, I hope they’ll forgive it. Meanwhile, just trust me when I say that if you go to any of these following links, you will be reading something good, thoughtful and important! Gerald on Baby Boomers, Alexandra’s Voice from the Grave, Victor Davis Hanson’s Vocabulary of Untruth, Blue Crab’s Acts of Barbarism and his defense of Condi against unconscionable condescension, Siggy’s Future Written Yesterday, Shrinkwrapped’s futher thoughts on strategy and on narcissism. Patterico has everything you ever wanted to know about sockpuppetry. [...]

And how could I forget the dean of WaPo mediocrity, David Broder? He probably accounts for the overall low talent level as no one could be hired who ran a chance of showing him up.

I started as an editorial page editor in the 60s and have keenly followed opinion writing ever since.

The current lineup at the WaPo has to be the worst in newspaper history. In addition to Robinson, you've got E. J. Dionne and Richard Cohen who obviously disdain to do any homework before writing. You've got a partisan kneejerk--Dana Milbank--and a blinkered obsessive--David Ignatius.

Even the NY Times can't match that level of mediocrity.

Roland, I did not omit half the sentence, the entire paragraph is right there in a block quote. And a smear is an unsubstantiated charge meant to ruin someone's name. I did that how?

You've read here for a long time. You know I find the kind of crud Robinson spews here offensive - regardless of who it comes from. Why would I give him a pass?

Plus, you omitted half the sentence.

Why is "obvious intelligence" and "poise on the world stage" condescension?

You try too hard to smear him. :)

Here his condescension reaches new depths heights depths (Hell, you decide). A little black girl? Her fashion sense? Say what?

You don't read too much fairy tales and stories, do you?

little black girl from Birmingham rises to become secretary of state,

actually a well tried, and used stereotype sentence, used regularly, in books, movies and media without any negative hidden meaning.

The only way to create a new Middle-East in the foreseeable future is to burn it to the ground.

Talk won't help.
Waging war on the countries, showing them that they rightfully hate the West won't help.
