Ask Yourself This Question

Would a school that made children spend nine hours each day memorizing the bible be acceptable? With no other courses taught, just the memorization. Answer honestly before you read the extended entry and understand why you answered whatever way you did.

    Uhmm…

    You have no Ministry of Education or some government body that evaluates the teaching program and then authorize it?
    Here that school would count as a passtime, an after-school activity.

    Getting the impression, that the US government lacks some fundamental stuff.

    I would say that if a private entity is doing this, it’s a little silly, and perhaps the government has a duty to look into this to see if this is fulfilling the legal requirements for education for these children. If it’s not breaking any laws, then it’s just silly, but legal. If it’s breaking the law, then it should be shut down, whether it’s the Quran, the Bible, the Upanishads, the Mathnawi, the Torah, or any other holy text.
