Or Auckland with busts, as the case may be. A parade of topless porn stars riding motorcycles, aptly called "Boobs on Bikes" brought the city of Auckland in New Zealand to a complete stop.
The "Boobs on Bikes" parade went ahead despite Auckland mayor Dick Hubbard labelling the promotion for an erotica show as "morally repugnant".
The porn stars in studded knee-high boots, black leather pants and little else travelled in a convoy down the city's main thoroughfare Queen Street behind two military tanks.
A furore over the parade — which has been held for the last several years in New Zealand's largest city — brought out the biggest crowds ever for the spectacle.
"This year Dick Hubbard decides to stick his nose in and offered us a media bonanza," parade and erotica show organiser Steve Crow said.
Crow had applied to Hubbard's city council for a permit to hold the parade but was turned down. However, the spectacle could not be stopped because there is no law against women baring their breasts in public.
A workers union rally on a square on the parade route attracted a better turnout than expected.
Gee, whoever organized the labor rally was thinking. The problem with something like this is evident in the photo that accompanies the article. There are some rather young looking people in the picture. There is no telling if there were children, per se, there, but there is no way to keep them away, either.

Well, yes, there certainly were children.
But, considering the TV shows these days, are you sure they had seen anything not already seen on TV?
The movies with a 12+ rating are the kind of movies that had 16+ a couple of years before.
Besides, I always had this funny aversion about people crying aloud “oh my God, my kid seen a naked female breast, oh my God, oh my God!!!” and not batting an eye when they watch shoot outs, corpses, killings maiming and such.
Like with GTA: San Andreas. In the US it was okay that the kid could beat anyone into a pulp with a baseball bat, but oooooh, there was a cheat that let you watch two bunches of pixels imitating an intercourse.
Oh my God! What morals will they have! They will hav *gasp* sex!!!
Killing – ok.
Having sex – big nono..
I would not worry about those kids. Could not see anything not already presented in TV or on the beach.
The difference is that as a parent, it is part of my job to monitor and control what I think is inappropriate. I can’t do that if it is out on the street, can I?
Well, as you know that it is the day of the year, when this annual event takes place, you know that you won’t let your kid go near to the route they take every year.
It was not a “surprise party”. It was something done each and every year for the last couple of year, and as such you, as a responsible parent with kids, can take the neccessary, yearly precaution to protect your kids.
Roland,
The US has some peculiar quirks regarding pop culture. When I was stationed in Germany as a troop commander, my first sergeant would have his daily platoon sergeant’s meeting in the afternoon. One day I stuck my head in there. The meetings were so quiet and orderly, I thought that surely my 1SG had some great leadership technique that I could use with the LTs….
Afternoon’s on German TV (which my 1SG had in his office) was a strip game show.
And I won’t even try to describe German late night TV…
Try that in the old USA and you would find our Puritanical roots coming out with pitch forks and torches.
But violence? No problem. Go figure.
“But violence? No problem. Go figure.”
Well, maybe because having a weapon is the american way.
Or maybe they reason that violence is a public thing in real life, like sex is not.
I would not allow my kids to watch adult movies, but I would not want them to watch Tom and Jerry either, as that just teaches how to be creatively violent and the good guy at the same time – also, it teaches that you can be as evil as you want as long as you are a “cute” figure, like that blasted mouse.
As for german TV. They are practically neighbours, so I know them well
Was that show the Tutti-Frutti, with the famous german piano player?
