The "activists" who tried to keep Joe Lieberman off the November ballot in Connecticut have failed. The secretary of state has certified that Lieberman had more than enough signatures to secure a place on the ballot.
The certification means that Lieberman, the Democratic nominee for vice president in 2000 and a presidential candidate in 2004, will run for re-election as part of the Connecticut for Lieberman party against Democrat Ned Lamont and Republican Alan Schlesinger.
Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz said Lieberman had 7,700 validated signatures. The campaign collected more than 18,500 signatures, but Bysiewicz's office stopped counting when employees determined Lieberman had enough names.
The dirty tricks won't work.

So that only leaves the option of drumming him out of the Democratic Party. Which would be the perfectly most mean-spirited move possible… so I’ll bet they do it.
Since most average people would consider that to be a particularly nasty political dirty trick, it would about guarantee Lieberman’s victory.
Lieberman ran against an opponent and LOST the Democratic primary. He’s a sore loser and is now running as an Independent, not a Democrat. I didn’t think it was legal for a party to run more than one candidate at a time. Yet you criticize his ex-party on whose ticket he LOST for kicking him out of a party that he isn’t running for!
If this were any other Democrat you would be crying foul.
Lieberman is hardly the first to lose a primary and then run as an independent although it might be a first for a US Senate position. And if this were any other Democrat, we’d thank him for giving the Republican candidate an advantage by splitting the Democrat vote.
