I've known about the airship program for just about forever, I think. It's one of those odd things I picked up somewhere along the way. So with the wonders of the world wide web (courtesy of Al Gore) I dug up some information on NAS Lakehurst, the large airship facility the Navy used to have in New Jersey. Here's some good information about airship tactics as they evolved. (Bonus, they have specs for the USS Macon ZRS-5). And finally, here's the US Navy photo page on the USS Macon.
