They are smart enough not to bite the hand that feeds them, but if they wanted to make a real gesture, how about taking that oil from Mr. Chavez and sending $5/gallon back to the US Treasury? Alaskan residents and natives receive direct US federal aid, Alaskan state aid, various preference programs, and according to the GAO, hundreds, even thousands of millions of dollars in no-bid federal contracts.
