Democratic Party Victory Endorsed!

Ringing endorsements are coming in from around the globe on the Democratic party election victory. And what a proud group of folks think it's just peachy.

"Of course, the citizens of the United States are humans with a conscience. It's a reprisal vote against the war in Iraq, against the corruption" within the Bush administration, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said. "All this fills us with optimism."…..

In an extraordinary joint statement, more than 200 Socialist members of the European Parliament hailed the American election results as "the beginning of the end of a six-year nightmare for the world" and gloated that they left the Bush administration "seriously weakened."…..

People across the Mideast also reacted swiftly, saying it appeared the U.S. president had paid the price for what many view as failed policy in Iraq.

Most governments across the region had no official comment, but some opponents of the United States reacted harshly. "President Bush is no longer acceptable worldwide," said Suleiman Hadad, a lawmaker in Syria, whose autocratic government has been shunned by the U.S……

Passions were even higher in Pakistan, where Bush is deeply unpopular despite billions in aid and support for President Gen. Pervez Musharraf.

One opposition lawmaker, Hafiz Hussain Ahmed, said he welcomed the election result but hoped for more. Bush "deserves to be removed, put on trial and given a Saddam-like death sentence," he said. ….

Well, there's a list of people endorsing the win that should give the Democrats a little bit of a pause. If you're appealing to these foks, are you really sending the message you intended? The endorsements from (T)Hugo and the Syrians should really be something to brag about. One note of caution from the Arab world:

"The problem for Arabs now is, an American withdrawal (from Iraq) could be a security disaster for the entire region," said Mustafa Alani, an Iraqi analyst for the Gulf Research Center in Dubai.

UPDATE: It Shines For All has a release by Kofi Annan's spokesman. It seems the UN is celebrating. It also seems that the UN does not normally comment on internal elections of member states. But if it gives them a chance to bash America, hey, what the heck.

Methinks they doth protest too much… And they apparently don’t really understand how our government works.

This can’t be true! After all, Former Republican (and others) _assured_ us this wouldn’t be so.

“If you’re appealing to these folks, are you really sending the message you intended?”

I didn’t see the ads that sought the approbation of some Pakistani legislator, can you point them out to me? In fact, I’m unaware of any Dem. adverts that appealed to the people you say they were. That could be because you just made that up,sort of like your and the President’s economic policies.

    I fixed your typo…you’re welcome.

Um, I think Gaius meant, “appealing”, as in, “Boy, hitting that liberal with a clue bat sure sounds appealing to me!” Not as in, “I am appealing to you, please look up words in the dictionary before you correct other people!!”

No,Blubba,I understood exactly what the Blue Crab was saying. He has the unfortunate tendency to believe the RNC (and the President, prior to the election),that Democratic party politics apppealed to the “terrorists” as if it was a true statement. Instead it’s the usual garbage, the senselessness is exceeded only when he tries to convince himself that tax cuts pay for themselves.

Uh, no, TMJ (is that why I hear a jaw popping every time I read what you write?) You completely sidestepped what I was saying. Either you made a simple mistake (your understanding of the word “appealing”) or your logic is flawed.

Gaius did not need to see any Democrats asking for the barbarian hordes to support them. That would have meant that they were asking those hordes to support Democrats (or, as you said, using your $5 word-of-the-day calendar, seeking their “approbation.”) What he was saying is that the Democratic victory was emotionally satisfying to the barbarian hordes.

Because your first statement was based on an error, most people would be inclined to ignore your second statement. But not me. No sirree. I appreciate your efforts to fix other people’s typos. I know it takes a lot to be a good editor. For example, the sentence, “That could be because you just made that up,sort of like your and the President’s (sic) economic policies.” Now this sentence, wow, would drive any decent editor crazy. The vagueness, and improper use of parallelism, man, I can’t even begin. So, in the spirit of Compassionate Conservatism, I am going use my great editing skills to help you out, and fix this sentence:

“I have not seen those advertisements, most likely because you falsely claimed it to be true; reminiscent of the manner in which you and your President have created economic policies.”

Dang it!! I guess even the best grammar cannot hide a steaming pile of logical fallacies! This one is known as, “hasty generalization”, with a little “ad hominem” thrown in.

You’re welcome, TMJ. Just doing my part. No need to cry.
