The MSM's Guilty Conscience...

If it is indeed true that the MSM wanted us in Iraq 'then', but wants us out 'now', then there is at least one knee-jerk theory:

They feel guilty. ...

Gaius, you say, "Yeah, but..." and I have one for you, also: Yeah, but liberals implicitly believe the MSM, because it generally reports events (or non-events, as it were) in a manner that validates leftard ideology. In this respect, the AP loses no credibility with its intended audience, since the "progressives" make a hobby out of shaking their pom-poms for anything that is to the detriment of the USA's image and/or advancement.

The AP won't suffer a whit, because you and I never put much stock into their faux "reportage" in the first place.

Yeah, but people are going to trust the news even less than they do already. That's bad for everyone.

You know...I just don't see the AP worrying about it, at all. Nor the left who seem perfectly okay with the AP's shoddy work.

Gaius said, "I, for one, would like to have honest reporting that I can rely on to tell the truth. Shouldn't that also be the AP's agenda?"

Well, yes, it certainly should be AP's agenda, I believe it once was, but it's becoming increasingly clear AP now has other priorities. Priorities which it apparently seeks to conceal.

However, as a few more MSM outlets inquire each day about the voracity of the Burning Six story, those hidden priorities can't remain in the shadows much longer.

The AP is sitting on a big powder keg of the worst kind of trouble a legitimate news organization can have, the fuse is lit, time is running out, and bluff and bluster won't put out the fire.

AP Hoping This Goes Away--It Isn't Going to Happe...

The AP's handling of the "burning six" situation has been beyond absurd and their credibility is slowly eroding away because their hopes that making a statement, that in effect said, we reported it, so therefore it is true, isn't going to cut it...
