Predictable

Well, frankly, anyone who didn't see this coming isn't paying attention. The Dixie Chicks won several Grammy awards last night. Yawn. Algore will win an Oscar, too. Likewise, yawn. Neither award has anything to do with the merits of the music or of the movie and everything to do with Hollywood politics.

One of my favorite readers directed me to the following comment:

I think people are paranoid," former Grateful Dead member Mickey Hart told Reuters. "I think that if they speak out, they think they're gonna get whacked by the government. It's pretty oppressive now. Look at the Dixie Chicks. They got whacked."

Suffering fools and stupidity is so exhausting. The Dixie Chicks did not get "whacked" by the government. If anyone "whacked" them it was their fans who like their music without political sermonizing, thank you very much. It was the country fans who chose in droves to stop buying their CDs and told DJ's they didn't want to hear them on the radio. Sorry, but George Bush can 't be blamed for this one.

The real test will come after the Chicks are no longer the darlings of the left. A preview of that has already bee seen in their not so great ticket sales in a lot of venues.

Ya know, the funny part is 5 years from now, we’ll be able to look back at the 2007 Grammys and go “And here’s when the Chicks’ careers started falling apart.”

The backlash against them I think will be stronger than ever, and the lefties that bought all those albums aren’t going to show at their next tour.

And when their next album gets ignored by *everyone*, critics, fans, what have you, that’s when we’re going to to see the last laugh.

The joke is the lefties saved their careers just so they could be used as tools to bash Bush. And when they finally get let in on the joke (and they’ll be the last ones to know) I doubt they’ll find it amusing at all.
