Huh? How? Gaius, are you saying that a person's carbon footprint matters less than the electricity he/she uses in the home?

Wow.

His carbon footprint is a fraud. The fact is he's using extremely large amounts of energy that dwarfs the amount regular folks use.

<strong>Who is the real Al Gore: Statesman or Politician; Environmentalist or Hypocritical Fraud?...</strong>

So what is he? A hypocrite? Yes in the sense that he demands we do what he is unwilling to do himself: Actually conserve, not just buy his conservation in a greenhouse shell game......

err, STONETOOLS? "<i>Scientific truth remains truth no matter who proclaims it.</i>

Yeah, PRAISE JEEEBUS!

Please, StoneStupid, show me anything remotely resembling a bulletproof computer model that, if you ask the script to throw this shtick in reverse--go back a mere 400 years to a randomly selected date, then tell me what the mean air temperature was at high noon in Philly that day--.

Doesn't require much--same stuff that tells us we're screwed.

Hell, I'll give you $500 if you, Sir, can tell me what time it is.

Stonetools: I didn't see the Oscars, so I'll have to rely on other reporting. But John Hinderaker (of Powerline) notes in this post --http://newsbloggers.aol.com/2007/02/26/get-out-a-cross-and-a-clove-of-garlic -- that the insipid messages scrolling behind Melissa Etheridge as she performed her silly Oscar-winning song included:

"Reduce your carbon emissions to zero."

But Al is still carbon nuetral because of the results of peddling environmentalism. He probably has 220Kwh of karma to burn per year.

Having said that, it's pretty funny! Let's hope he has a few poor people attached to the account to justify the bill!

If the science in Al Gores movie is right, then it wouldnt matter if it came out tomorrow that Al Gore watches snuff porn, molests small boys, practises cannabalism, smokes crack, and shops for groceries by private jet. Scientific truth remains truth no matter who proclaims it.
As for Al Gores home use, well if he and his wife are running an organization out of that home, then its not an average house is it?
I'm sure that a car factory burns a lot more fuel than the the average home, but since it generates ecomonic activity and employs people, the tradeoff makes sense.
Bottom line, AL Gores point is not :
+Use as little energy as humanly possible

rather it is:
+Do as much as you can to reduce your carbon footprint

Intelligent folk understand the distinction.Right wing hacks, not so much.
