[...] Does this prove anything? In and of itself, no it does not. But if the weather somewhere is hotter than normal, it is trotted out for some major tub-thumping that the warm spell is proof positive that global warming is occurring. You do not see the same tub-thumping when it is colder than usual. Maybe just a report like this one. But between kids bundled up in heavy winter clothing in Washington, DC to hunt for Easter eggs, record-breaking cold all across the country and turtle-sicles in Texas (along with concurrent warming on Mars that almost exactly mirrors the warming on this planet) you should begin to wonder what is going on, exactly. Because something is not quite adding up. Is there a warming trend on this planet? Sure. But is it out of the ordinary? Maybe not so much. Is it caused by human activity? Despite the screeching, there is no way to say that with certainty. [...]

[...] Do read the entire thing. Lindzen is a huge thorn in the side of the First Church of the Presumptuous Assumption of Global Warming™ for a very good reason. He's rather good a pointing out the Emperor's lack of knickers. Which is why the true believers want all debate closed off and critics silenced. They hate trying to answer these annoying questions. Which is why they resort to name-calling and high-volume screeching at people who disagree with them. But why is this climate right at this instant in time the perfect range of temperatures? Why is Mars warming up at almost exactly the same rate as the Earth? Why are people who use 20 times more energy than the average American (and own strip mines to boot) anointed as saints of the First Church? Why is diverting food into the grossly inefficient production of ethanol more beneficial for the planet than feeding people? [...]

Gee, would someone explain to the holier-than-thou that a lot of their "proof" rests in interpretations of something that someone else wrote somewhere based on an estimate of something someone else heard somewhere else?

How about thinking for yourself instead of relaying imparted wisdom from people who have a huge economic stake in getting people to believe in their pontifical pronouncements? (Read Algore who uses 20 times the national average of energy and sells indulgences to the people who believe his message with all their hearts. But only if they can pony up the dough for it.)

But name calling is really easy and cheap. (And I will bet, very, very large money that I have a hell of a lot more scientific and mathematical credentials than you, Maha - want to compare degrees?)

Do you honestly believe the folks like Al give a crap about you or whether you are going to live out the rest of your pathetic existence in a mud hut while he jets about the globe lecturing? Really, Maha? Because, to him, you are just someone to use to spread his message. And he would not even notice you when he rolls past in his SUV motorcade on his way to the private jet he is taking to his next lecture about what sacrifices you must make. So he can take more jet rides and milk you for it.

Who's calling who names?

[...] Will someone please explain to these scientifically illiterate twits that the phenomenon of global warming doesn’t mean the planet is getting warmer in a uniform way. My understanding is that climate changes are causing shifts in long-established patterns of air circulation around the planet as well as disrupting ocean current patterns like the Gulf Stream. These changes are causing some places to get colder because air is moving more directly from the poles to those places that it used to. But it’s the warming of the oceans, among other things, that is causing the changes in wind and current patterns. Hence, global warming is causing some parts of the planet to be cooler. Some scientists argue that we ought to be talking about “global climate change” rather than “global warming” to avoid confusion. [...]
