AllahPundit, Bob Owens, Weasel Zippers and Newsbuckit are all tracking the various comments and blog posts coming from the left over the death of Jerry Falwell. They range from disgusting to truly unhinged. These are the folks Harry Reid panders to. These are the crowd Nancy Pelosi plays to. Very nice. There's an old saying about the company you keep. There's also one about dogs and fleas.

UPDATE: Jammie Wearing Fool managed to track down the post that Huffington Post commenters are using to comment about Falwell (HuffPo closed comments on the post about Falwell, knowing full well what kinds of people make up their audience). It's pretty ugly, even for HuffPo. (I hope he took screen shots - HuffPo makes embarrassing things disappear when they get caught.) He also notes at least one lefty site that is pleading with readers not to open the sewage sluices - it isn't working, though.

Ah, but you know…, it’s not really hate if it comes from the Left. Leftists are by definition full of love, even when they kill people. Conservatives are by definition full of hate, even when they feed the poor and feed the hungry.

What’s going on is simple Free Speech. If folks want to dump on Falwell dump. If folks want to praise Falwell praise.

That’s what websites are for. And that’s all it means, nothing more.

Some random feeble minded thoughts: The Left usually hurls hate and venom when notable conservatives die. It is exponentially worse in this case. I find it interesting that while lefties generally regard religion as nothing more than superstition, they are fervently hoping Falwell is in hell. Compassion and mercy are two vitues that the left seems to lack entirely. Assessing the reaction of the Left to Falwell’s death, it is truly scary that there are so many sick, deranged, cruel people out there.
