One Small Step

Happy 38th anniversary. On this date in 1969, Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin became the first men to set foot on the moon. Here is a short video of the flight (which, weirdly, I think, uses the soundtrack for the movie Apollo 13, but it works).

There is a video clip of the actual first step here.

  1. Amazing machines.

I was still in grade school in 69′, but this was inspirational stuff for a little kid…

…inspirational enough that my first job straight out of college was working on the Shuttle’s flight computers with Rockwell in Downey CA. I was there for the first STS-1/2/3 flights.

  2. Sylvia says:

My brother built a model and we were in awe of NASA. He ended up working at NASA Ames, doing real-time data acquisition in the wind tunnels.

I love your history posts. Thank you!
