I can't say it any better than you did here. I applaud this verdict. My heart goes out to that father, not just for his son's death, but for the fact that these vile people whose entire purpose in life seems to be to smite people's hearts hurt him so badly. I first heard of Phelps and his "church" when they paraded around at the funeral of Matthew Shepard with signs saying "God hates fags" and expressing joy at his murder. The deliberate, intentional cruelty is just beyond my ability to understand. Maybe this verdict will make them think twice about carrying their hateful signs at anyone's funeral again.
