I do wish they'd tighten up the entitlement rules. My friend is a permanent resident because her mom was sponsored for permanent residence through her mom's brother. The friend has lived in CA for the last 4 years, but her mom never established her residency and basically lived and worked in her home country. Nevertheless, she still has her green card which she uses as a visa to come here whenever she wants. That's supposed to be illegal, but she hasn't been caught.

The mom came here earlier this month, then had to be rushed to the emergency room for something. The bill came to thousands of dollars. So what do they do? Apply for MediCal, of course. She's never put a single cent into paying taxes in this country, and she's looking at getting benefits already. On top of that, they're actually thinking of applying for SSI!

I don't think she's eligible for either, but this being California, who knows. I know many illegal aliens who have both.

It annoys me that we pay a small fortune in taxes every year, and these people come here to milk the system. And, yeah, not all who are here legally should be here legally either.
