Wesley Cook’s Cult
On December 9, 1981, a 25 - year - old Philadelphia police officer named Daniel Faulkner was working the Midnight shift when he pulled over a Volkswagen headed the wrong way on a one - way street (Locust Street) in Center City . The neighborhood was dicey at best and it was the middle of the night . Think hookers and druggies, not priests and choirboys . The driver of the Volkswagen was a guy named William Cook . William Cook got out of his car and resisted arrest by sucker - punching Officer Faulkner in the face . Across the street, a taxi driver took interest . The taxi driver was William Cook’s brother, Wesley Cook . Wesley Cook was a wannabe journalist and sometime Blank Panther activist who had glorified violence toward police officers in some of his writings . Wesley Cook was armed with a weapon he had lawfully purchased from a Philadelphia sporting goods store . Wesley Cook ran across Locust Street and yanked his gun from its shoulder holster . He fired at Officer Faulkner point blank, the bullet finding its mark in his back . Wounded, as he fell to the ground, the young cop was nevertheless able to get off a shot of his own, and struck Wesley Cook in the stomach . With that bullet, Danny told the world exactly who had shot him . Wesley Cook then stood over the fallen officer and pumped one of his five shots into Faulkner’s brain . The ballistics of the case all matched . There were five eyewitnesses to the incident . And Wesley Cook confessed to the crime when, in an odd twist of fate, both Officer Faulkner and his murderer were taken to Jefferson Hospital, just blocks from the shooting location . In the Emergency Room, Wesley Cook proclaimed, “I shot the motherfucker, and I hope the motherfucker dies . ” Wesley Cook had a two - week trial for First Degree murder in Philadelphia, in 1982, in front of a jury that he personally helped select and which included people of color . They deliberated for just under six hours and returned a conviction . The same jury then deliberated another two hours before returning a sentence of death .
Michael Smerconesh, Justice for Danny
The New York Post reports that Wesley Cook's cult is planning to protest an appearance on the Today show by Maureen Faulkner, the widow of Danny Faulkner.
December 3, 2007 — SUPPORTERS of cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal are threatening to storm the streets of Rockefeller Center Thursday morning to protest the "Today" show. The New York-based "Free Mumia Abu-Jamal Coalition" is infuriated that Maureen Faulker (sic) - the widow of Philadelphia police office Daniel Faulker (sic), whom Abu-Jamal was convicted of murdering 25 years ago - is scheduled to appear on the show Thursday to promote her new book, "Murdered by Mumia: A Life Sentence of Pain, Loss and Injustice." The activists - who claim on their Web site to have demanded "equal time" but "as of yet have gotten no agreement to that" -will protest outside.
Maureen Faulkner was handed a life sentence on December 9, 1981 that cannot be appealed and cannot be reversed. Wesley Cook has stayed alive, the darling of the dilettante left for all these years. Michelle Malkin writes:
If you’re in the NYC area and can counter-protest, don’t miss the opportunity. The “journalists” and the “educators” and Hollyweirdos and international concern trolls and race hustlers have Mumia’s back. Who has Daniel Faulkner’s?
Remember Danny Faulkner. Forget Wesley Cook, regardless of what name he is repackaged under.
