Western civilization IS better than that barbarism. The reason is simple, Western culture has matured and become progressively more civil and less violent towards each other over the last millenium or so. Western civilization has developed concepts like religious freedom, peaceful conflict resolution, cooperation for a mutual goal regardless of race, creed, etc. In the meantime, Islam is still rooted in the 7th century and still espouses the 7th century values in which it was originally based - no religious tolerance, women as the defacto property of men, negotiation is weakness, spread your beliefs by conflict, impostion of your will on others, and the sword. Islam has NOT matured. It has NOT evolved. It is still the same violent set of beliefs that the prophet imposed using the sword and the threat of death in the 7th century. Yet the liberals seem to feel compelled to defend the practice of this barbarous belief even to the point of rationalizing murder. This is a religion that espouses many beliefs that the liberals claim to have found abhorent in our own culture and have worked for many years to erradicate. Yet, they seem to champion the right of these barbarians to practice those beliefs. Strange are the ways and thought processes of the liberals! I’m with you, Gaius.
