Somewhat similar story which I read while researching lever-action rifles; A fellow was sitting in the upper part of his house when he heard a strange noise downstairs. He picked up his Marlin lever-action rifle, casually chambered a round, and went downstairs. To his surprise, his front door is wide open and he sees a man running like a nut down the street away from his house. He realized that the guy had broken in and theorized that the sound of the lever-action rifle's action, featured in most westerns soundtracks, scared the guy off. Perhaps a sound effects security alarm might work? Funny story. Somewhat similar story which I read while researching lever-action rifles;
