In the US (and, I believe, throughout the West), there is only one truly evil person, the fortunately-dead Adolf Hitler. The benign ones won't even give that characteristic to Heinrich Himmler, who probably had a sad upbringing. Lenin and Stalin were not evil because their intentions were good. Concentration camp guards, serial rapists, mass murderers -- name your category -- they all come festooned with explanations letting their moral qualities off the hook. This is not just a theoretical problem. Dealing with Islamist bombers, for instance, makes sense only if those who set and enforce policy are correct in their view of enemies (and friends, for that matter). This occurs only if other people's moral qualities are correctly ascertained. You can't buy off someone who is not interested in being bought off and who will take your goodies only to use them in ways you did not intend. Jeane Kirkpatrick called this Benthamite universalism. The first part goes, "Deep down, we're all alike." This implies that there are no insurmountable differences between any of us. What always follows is, "We're all after the same thing: a better life for our children." That is where policy gets suicidal or, when urging Israel to buckle to scum, homicidal. This attitude is very popular with the State Department and other little old ladies. Condi seems to have been eaten alive by this nonsense. They are trusting pleasant souls who could potentially be easily abused. The depravity of these reports boggles the mind. I have difficulty comprehending how a righteous God delays judgment on such animals. I shudder at the thought of what awaits them in the afterlife. It matters not what country we are fighting these monsters in to me. It only matters that they are ruthlessly hunted down as the vermin they are and killed. I don't care what religion they belong to. I don't care what their "rights" are as humans. They forfeited these rights when they crossed into such depravity. Evil must be confronted and exterminated. There is no common ground for negotiation with this mindset. Pray the hand of Providence still governs the selection of President of the United States. My sister is Down’s. One must wonder if these two women were even aware of what was actually strapped to them? I have some experience with people who have Down Syndrome and I can tell you they can be extremely trusting of anyone who treats them nicely. They tend not to be suspicious at all unless they've been badly mistreated at some point in their lives. That's what makes this so truly vicious and evil - to take advantage of someone under those conditions and use them so horribly. It is just more evidence that true evil really exists in the world.
