Uh, Oh
Maybe just a difference in venue, maybe nothing at all. Or maybe the reason Hillary Clinton turned on the waterworks today. She appeared at a campaign event at a Minneapolis college and spoke to 4,000 people.
Barack Obama had just appeared at an event in the same city with 20,000 people in attendance .
Clinton spoke to a crowd of nearly 4,000 in a gymnasium, hoarse from a multi-state campaign blitz the weekend before Tuesday's crucial series of primaries and caucuses.
"I think about the next generation," she said. "I think every American generation has the choice to be great." But, she said, the nation is at "a critical turning point" and "there is no guarantee that we will remain a great nation" without sound leadership.
Her appearance came a day after Barack Obama drew 20,000 to Target Center and about 25 minutes before the Super Bowl kickoff. But the timing didn't deter her supporters.
Her poll numbers are shrinking and Obama's are rising rapidly. Again, not to read too much into the numbers. But it sure seems odd that her crowd was so small - and that a larger venue was not selected if the demand was there.

On a related note:
Stanley Fish compares criticism of Hilly the Hun to anti-Semitism.
There is one vague suggestion in Fish’s article that Hilly’s problems are somehow all the fault of the GOP. But Professor Fish has too well developed an instinct to go after the left-wing blogs that are currently trashing Her Inevitableness and may help to cost her the nomination. Mama Fish raised no dummies, and little Stanley knows his professional life will be nasty, brutish and short if the Stalinists that dominate many American college campuses get wind that he is being less than 100% loyal. If he has doubts, he can ring up Larry Summers for a chat.
It never even remotely occurs to Fish that what the Hun is experiencing is simply the result of an army of chickens coming home to roost. The tactics that the Clintons used to destroy all who get in their way - the private detectives digging up dirt on women who complained about the Harasser in Chief, the whisper campaigns to friendly ears in the MSM, the race-baiting aimed at Republicans and now Democrats, the leaking of FBI files to discredit opposition party members - are now costing her support in the Democrat Party. Fish prefers to blame it all on a group of “haters”, which in this context means anyone who has the nerve to take umbrage at the Clintons’ high-octane politics of personal destruction.
By this time tomorrow night we may know if Clinton Inc. has finally fallen. Personally, I think that the Hun still has enough left in the tank to deflate the Empty Suit, and Fish will be able to chortle that the “haters” were turned back.
