He said: “Equality before the law is part of the glue that binds our society together. We cannot have a situation where there is one law for one person and different laws for another.”

Trevor Phillips, who chairs the Equality and Human Rights Commission, said the “implication that British courts should treat people differently based on their faith is divisive and dangerous”. ”

PLUS – even a Muslim MP has all but called Williams a wacko – (from the Telegraph) “Khalid Mahmood, the Muslim Labour MP for Birmingham Perry Barr, said: “This is very misguided. There is no half-way house with this.

“What part of sharia law does he want? The sort that is practised in Saudi Arabia, which they are struggling to get away from?

“Muslims do not need special treatment or to be specially singled out. This would not contribute to community cohesion.”

This is just Williams going off the deep-end again … most CofE-ers here want him replaced.

Why? Because the largest immigrant group is (by a HUGE margin) people from Poland, Slovakia, Czech Rep and Hungary. Far from being overrun by the evil horde from Mecca, we are filling up with skilled Eastern European Christians who are for most part skilled, have pretty good English, go straight into jobs, integrate rapidly (almost everyone I know has an Eastern European bf/gf/spouse, including me) and they are a case study of how the right sort of immigration is a very good thing indeed

In fact is the UK is soooo secular that it really does not matter a damn what the Arch-Dhimmi of Canterbury says. Islam is much weaker that you seem to think.

The west MUST stop letting Muslims immigrate until they demonstrate control over their intolerant murderous tendencies.

I am embarrassed to have been confirmed into the Anglican Church of Canada; but this was back when it and the Church of England (which Williams so poorly represents) were actually Christian churches.

BTW, I no longer attend the ACofC, which has degenerated into being a mostly very left-wing political organization. (The ACofC is an affiliate of the CofE; as is the Episcopalian Church in the USA.)

Well… there’s always the option of not immigrating into a nation that doesn’t want your culture. But then in the Middle East there isn’t a dividing line between state and religion, so I suppose they have a hard time coming to grips with the fact they’re not allowed to have a theocracy any more…
