The New York TSLimes

Sleazy, even for the declining New York Times: a hint of an innuendo of a penumbra of a ghost of a possible or even completely imaginary scandal warrants a  four web page smear on John McCain. I won't even excerpt this slime. This is gutter politics and beneath even the already badly squandered dignity of a formerly great newspaper.

(The only reason I'm linking this at all is that is is out there and the left is screeching about it trying to pump it up) I'll only point out that the fact that the NYT is willing to publish something this thin indicates that they are worried about McCain. Badly worried.

Don’t see any slime here - seems to me they firmly believe that he’s not involved with anything unethical and are concerned that McCain is so straight he doesn’t notice possible appearances of conflict of interest. To me it kinda reinforces good opinion I have of McCain…

I don’t know that they are worried. This is just SOP (standard operating procedure) for The Lies. Going after GOP candidates is what they do. This is just the opening salvo. There will be more. Doubts about his age, temperament, and anything else they can think of.

Hmm…McCain goes after Obama and this pops up the next day.  <a href="http://iconicmidwest.blogspot.com/2008/02/coincidence.html">Coincidence</a>?

The NYTimes looks headed for a downsized edition to be sold weekly at supermarkets. They have a front page ready with a picture of an alien who had Michael Jackson’s baby. It might boost circulation.

OMG! Yuri actually likes McCain? I’m shocked!

yeah. right. there just concerned. ah huh? right i can feel the love.

martian:  don’t be shocked so easily. What McCain has (I hope) is the desire to unite the country - or, if you like, he does not believe that he has a monopoly on truth, and does not seem to believe that his way is the only way possible. In this I like him better than Hillary. Obviously, Hillary’s views are much closer to mine, but I think she would not be able to achieve anything sensible given the stalemate of the partisan politics. I happen to believe that a thoughtful policy that is implemented (even if it does not completely align with my priorities) is better than a lot of half-way measures that basically propagate status quo that we have now. I’m as far on the left as most people here are on the right, but I do value compromise

Yuri, I know you’re an immigrant but I don’t know if you’ve applied for citizenship so this may be a moot question, but does that mean that if the Hildebeast is the Democrat nominee, that John McCain can count on your vote?

NYT stock down 6.5% today. I stayed away from shorting this stock a month ago when Harbinger partners were trying to get on the board, they bought up 5% of the stock. But its looking like NYT will take a fast ride down to 14. Do your own analysis. I just take chances with what I can lose.

matrian: this is a hypothetical question for me, unfortunately. My green card case was stalled in the FBI name check for many years and only came through couple of years ago. So the next election I will vote in will be 2012.If Hillary becomes the nominee - I don’t know. I hope she won’t. I’d be tempted to vote for McCain, but this is all mind games… I do think that this  country would have been in a much, much better place now if he was nominated in 2000.
