I don’t believe the GOP set Spitzer up — he did what he did. But the Bush justice department was pretty quick to put his name out there. Funny, I don’t remember them doing that with Vitter. More to the point, what’s the difference between Spitzer and Vitter? Vitter’s still in office. Why does Spitzer have to resign?

I will make another bold, cynical prediction – if Spitzer does not resign in the next 48 hours, he will never resign. In fact, he may come out stronger than before.

How? Don’t underestimate the power of the "victim" card with the MSM and their Democrat pets. Already the Kool-Aid Krowd is suggesting that it’s no big deal, that the GOP set Spitzer up, what Vitter and Craig did was worse, it’s the Religious Right run amok, Christianist theocracy is just around the corner, etc. Remember how Hilly the Hun’s spouse beat the rap time and time again?

It boggles my feeble mind watching politicians destroy their careers with self destructive behavior. There are plenty examples to serve as warning. It is the arrogant "it can’t happen to me" mentality. It must be some sort of blind spot in the human psyche. I don’t understand it. BTW, I feel bad for his 3 daughters and his wife.

Foolish, arrogant, desparate, kinky sex addiction? There are many reasons that someone might screw up this way, but I think the common thread is lack of self control and coddling one’s desires.
