Tough Talk

You're down in the polls, facing an increasingly hostile media, short on cash and in the fight of your political life to fend off an unexpectedly strong contender. What to do? Simple, promise to obliterate Iran.

Clinton further displayed tough talk in an interview airing on "Good Morning America" Tuesday. ABC News' Chris Cuomo asked Clinton what she would do if Iran attacked Israel with nuclear weapons.

"I want the Iranians to know that if I'm the president, we will attack Iran," Clinton said. "In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them."

Funny isn't it? Seymour Hersh has been cheerfully recycling his tales of a secret plot by the Bush administration to bomb, bomb, bomb Iran to the vast approval of the American left for a long time. But here it is a Democrat jumping froggy on the issue. Not that I am against a UAD (as opposed to a MAD) policy against any country that launches a WMD attack against Israel. But there is a certain irony here.

I guess she’s decided she has nothing left to lose by ticking off the loony left of her Party. The idea of extending the US nuclear umbrella to Israel is kind of pointless, and I disagree with Krauthammer’s recent article advocating it. Israel has a capable nuclear deterrent, not only in its airstrike capabilities, but a growing force of submarine launched cruise missiles.  The Israelis have not been standing still the last ten years.

No need for Iran to worryy.  Any pending attack by Mrs. Clinton can be prevented by a sufficient donation to the Clinton Library.

She is scary. So is Obama.

She just handed the Obamessiah a giant club with steel points sticking out of it with which to beat her about the head and shoulders. This could get interesting. Pass the popcorn!

Obama’s response to this question resonated with uncertainty.   When the reporter slightly pressed him on the issue he responded by demeaning Hillary’s response to this same question.  This is typical of Obama, always vague and uncertain. He went to a local diner in Pennsylvania for a photo op where he was expecting  to be greeted like King Obama. When a reporter asked him a "tough" foreign policy question he got snarky and responded "Why can’t I just eat my waffle".   Does he have any clue that from time to time his breakfast or dinner might be interrupted due to a crisis when he is president?

Pam, you don’t understand - he’s the Obamessiah. He’s not supposed to be asked tough questions or asked to actually give practical details about anything he promises. He is the Annointed One, He Whose Middle Name Must Not be Spoken. All hail!
