One Small Question

Ed Morrisey notes a plan by George Clooney to host a big fundraiser for Barack Obama – in Geneva, Switzerland.

Academy award winning actor George Clooney is set to host a fundraiser for Barack Obama in Switzerland next month.

The event, taking place on the evening of September 2 in Geneva, Switzerland will be split into two parts: a reception and a dinner. According to Obama’s National Finance Committee, tickets for the reception where Clooney will speak are going for $1,000, followed by a dinner at the home of NFC member Charles Adams for $10,000 a plate. Space for the dinner is limited to 75 guests.

Let’s hope that Obama remembers to say “merci, beaucoup” as they pass along the checks.  Otherwise we’d be totally embarrassed to have him traveling abroad.

Maybe during the convention, the Republicans can dedicate a large-screen monitor at the Xcel Center to keep track of Obama’s second European jaunt of the campaign.  They could call it, “Where In The World Is Barack Obama?”  The show could track him through the summer houses of the rich and famous Americans who can afford to own villas overseas, and put dollar signs up on a map wherever he stops off for some foie gras.

One small question about this event. Will the guests be American citizens? If not, would there not be a major violation of American campaign finance laws? I suppose that since Obama considers himself the moment the world is waiting for, he can raise funds overseas. After all, the hopes of the world rest on his shoulders, right?

Obama? No, EgObama.

Surely I am not the only one wondering about the fuel involved in getting to the party?  I guess the  planes will have their tires properly inflated.

Please, Ruth. You must not question your self-appointed "betters". They know what’s best. Just ask them.

    They’ll wave from the limousine.

Do not forget that Barry O has taken tens of thousands from donors in the Gaza Strip.

Hmmm…a crowd made up of ex-pats who love their country so much they dont want to live in it anymore.  Sounds like Obama target demographic.

I think this raises the term "arrogance" to an entirely new level. We’ve always known that, at least since the beginning of the 20th century, an ego the size of King Kong is a basic requirement for anyone who wants to be POTUS. However, the Obamessiah’s ego makes King Kong look like a spider monkey. I wonder, when he said "We are the ones we have been waiting for", if that was actually meant to be plural – or if he was using the imperial "We"? It seems more nad more like the later.

Emperor Obama ain’t got no clothes. No wait, all Obama is, is clothes.
It would be great if during his little speech at the dinner, somebody shot a child’s suction cup arrow and it landed on his forehead.

Careful when you say things like that, Mockingbird. I saw a report on the news just this morning about the Secret Service arresting some guy for making threatening statements about the Obamessiah. And I know from personal experience (I’ve been a local liason for the Secret Service on several presidential visits over the years), those guys at the Secret Service have NO sense of humor whatsoever!
