Fly Fishing
Another one caught by his fly. I have not written about the latest sex scandal involving a Democrat until today, when John Edwards confessed - under duress - that he had, indeed, had an affair with a woman his campaign paid a lot of money to. Money given by his ardent supporters. Oh, Edwards still denies he is the father of Lisa Druck's baby, but his word isn't exactly coined gold at the moment.
John Edwards repeatedly lied during his Presidential campaign about an extramarital affair with a novice filmmaker, the former Senator admitted to ABC News today.
In an interview for broadcast tonight on Nightline, Edwards told ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff he did have an affair with 44-year old Rielle Hunter, but said that he loved only his wife, Elizabeth.
Not exactly a great year for Democratic party politicians. Detroit's mayor, New York's governor and the left's early favorite for the Presidency. All caught by the same fly, so to speak.

But they don’t condemn such behavior. That’s why they can attack so brutally a Republican that sins. You see, they didn’t do anything wrong. They don’t bitterly cling to those silly things that have held civilization together for eons. Since they pass no judgment any fall out isn’t their fault…just something for the next generation to clean up.

Quilly, they pass no judgement on each other but if this was a Republican candidate like Mitt Romney or Rudy Giulliani they’d be screaming bloddy murder. Look how much fuss they raised about Rudy having his girlfriend (now his wife) over to the Mayor’s Mansion when he was separated from his wife. They were screaming that his behavior made him un- electable. Now watch them try to sweeo this Edwards pecadillo under the rug like they tried to do with Bubba and his women.

See, that’s the neat trick. Once you’ve laid it down as law that there is really no serious moral crime other than hypocrisy, then any person who tries to live a moral life but fails at one point is worse than, say, a serial rapist and murderer, just so long as the rapist-murderer claims no moral standards. Only the "hypocrite" can be condemned. The open practitioner of vice is a hero, a pioneer on the ethical frontiers.

Now the mother refuses to have DNA tests made. Either Edwards is innocent and she knows it or she just got visited by another stack of Benjamins or both.
