Good to see that liberals on both sides of the Atlantic share the same view of their role – suppress the domestic population by any means possible while appeasing everyone else in the hope that they’ll look good on the world stage.
This is a Tony Blair tactic – go after unfriendly media outlets and reportes with everything you’ve got, and reward the faithful with access to the inner circle. Once the press is supine, the British experience shows that the ‘liberal’ government will likely take a Stalinist turn and begin a wider campaign of oppression against the general population. Exaggeration? Paranoia? Not really, the Blair government introduced a new piece of criminal legislation once every three days on average. It’s now a criminal offence to import a grey squirrell, to leave the lights in your house on at night, to allow the car to idle when parked. Object to this and face the prospect of 42 days in jail without charge. Habeas corpus meets Franz Kafka.
Go ahead and vote for Obama if you want, America, but heed the warning of the British people under Tony Blair.

For the MSM, most of whom are true believers of The One, they will probably feel that those being pressured or arrested had it coming.

The scales will never fall from the MSM’s eyes. I am convinced that a huge majority of them actully relish the prospect of fascism and want to be the ones shipping "racists" and anyone else who gets in their way off to concentration camps.

[...] Blue Crab Boulevard has a related story: an ABC news reporter was arrested and taken away in handcuffs for attempting to film Democratic Senators and VIP Donors to the Democratic party at a private meeting at the Brown Palace Hotel. ABC News has film of the arrest. The reporters were outside the hotel in public space. It does not appear that the reporter was disturbing the peace or breaking the law, though apparently the hotel complained. Perhaps it was just a misunderstanding, but looks as though the Democratic party does not want the public to associate its name with the sumptuous treatment of super-wealthy donors, and is willing to forfeit freedom of the press in order to maintain the populist fiction of the Democrats being the party of the working man. | Related posts: Election 2008 [...]
