Joe Biden: Out Of His Depth
Sen. Biden said something during the debate last night that was so wrong and, frankly, stupid it took my breath away. Needless to say the MSM never noticed. However, Michael Totten did notice:
In Thursday night’s vice presidential debate between Senator Joe Biden and Governor Sarah Palin, Biden said the strangest and most ill-informed thing I have ever heard about Lebanon in my life. “When we kicked — along with France, we kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon, I said and Barack said, “Move NATO forces in there. Fill the vacuum, because if you don’t know — if you don’t, Hezbollah will control it.” Now what’s happened? Hezbollah is a legitimate part of the government in the country immediately to the north of Israel.” [Emphasis added.]
What on Earth is he talking about? The United States and France may have kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon in an alternate universe, but nothing even remotely like that ever happened in this one.
Nobody – nobody – has ever kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon. Not the United States. Not France. Not Israel. And not the Lebanese. Nobody.
Joe Biden has literally no idea what he’s talking about.
It’s too bad debate moderator Gwen Ifill didn’t catch him and ask a follow up question: When did the United States and France kick Hezbollah out of Lebanon?
The answer? Never. And did Biden and Senator Barack Obama really say NATO troops should be sent into Lebanon? When did they say that? Why would they say that? They certainly didn’t say it because NATO needed to prevent Hezbollah from returning–since Hezbollah never went anywhere.
Maybe Biden is working under the assumption that the average American is so ill informed when it comes to foreign affairs they will believe any damn fool thing he says, but remember, Joe Biden is on the Democratic ticket because he supposedly improves their knowledge base on foreign affairs.
Just imagine how bad that makes Obama on the subject.
My mind reels with sarcastic replies.
Now, just imagine the media response had Palin made such a remark.

In case anyone doesn’t recognize it the line “My mind reels with sarcastic replies.” is lifted from a Peanuts strip.
Just wanted to attribute to Snoopy since I’m quoting him.

I heard him say that and had a Twilight Zone moment thinking to myself “When did that happen and how did I miss it?” Then reality kicked in and I was hoping someone would catch him on it - no one did. Further, it was not on factcheck.org as of this morning, either. And I predict that you will NEVER see any reference to it in the MSM.

I think this qualifies as a “gaffe” bigger than Gerry Ford’s placing Poland outside the “iron curtain”.

The part that got me was when he said courts should have the power to adjust the principal on mortgages. Who’s going to issue a mortgage under those circumstances? I was hoping Sarah would jump on it.

If Joe Biden ever lost his seat in the Senate, in no time he’d be running up and down K street working his former colleagues for legislative favors for the finnancial services industry headquartered in his home state of Delaware. Talk about your prime constituencies, wow, and these guys know how to return a favor, and boy, do they ever have access to the right sort of incentives, if you get my drift.
Come to think of it, ol’ Joe would make a much better lobbyist than a Senator. Joe’s affable, plays fast and loose with the facts, has his fingers in all the right pies and pockets, and he loves to dine and drink on the taxpayer’s nickle. The man’s a natural born lobbist.

Even now, two days later, there has not been a peep about this in the MSM and it is STILL not on factcheck.org (I even sent them a note about it). This guy is going to get away with just MAKING UP a major military action that never happened! And in the middle of a debate where supposedly 70 million people were watching. Incredible!

The MSM will never bring this up - they’re in the Liberal’s pocket…

MSM is ducking Obama’s relationship to terrorists, racists, and bigots, yet you expect them to hold Joe Biden’s feet to the fire over a bogus war story.
MSM did everything they could do, and are still - to this day, carping about “Swiftboats,” in order to cover for (themselves and) John Kerry’s self-aggrandizing lies 4 years ago. You can’t teach an old dog new tricks. MSM isn’t about to stop covering for Democrat lies and deceptions, it just isn’t part of their makeup.
It’s called a “trained incomatibility.” Anyone who goes to one of higher education’s J schools, if you don’t leave early, you’re programmed to accept Dem hogwash without conditions and to bring out the microscope when anyone else has the ill breeding to speak up in public. Two sets of standards, incompatable, and yet simultaneous. Try that for a living and watch your bar tabs hit the stratosphere.
