Information about the deportation case was disclosed and confirmed by two separate sources, one of them a federal law enforcment official. The information they made available is known to officials in the federal government, but the AP could not establish whether anyone at a political level in the Bush administration or in the McCain campaign had been involved in its release.

Got it? Even thought it was a Federal law “enforcment” officer who released the information it’s the GOP’s fault! It must be the GOP’s fault since all “enforcment” officers are tools of Karl Rove! They made the “enforcment” officer do it! The illegal alien angle (part of a racist plot) makes the Chosen One look bad, so that proves it! al-AP knows who released this info, but still wants to falsely imply the Bush administration somehow broke the law.

And then there is this weird it’s-no-big-deal line:

In other words, unless it is yet another case of some kook speculating about how Trig Palin is the result of an incestuous relationship between Sarah Palin’s husband and daughter, then al-AP does not want to hear about it, it is out of bounds, and probably an illegal Bush plot anyway.

Are the authors of the article serious, or are they being deliberately obtuse? One lesson that my wife (a legal immigrant from Africa) and I learned during our efforts to obtain first her visa and then her “green card” is that large sections of the Federal bureaucracy are open in their defiance of Federal immigration laws. While attempting to get her Social Security number (needed in order to legally work in the USA) the local SSA office stonewalled and sent us to the local Health and Human Services office to seek help there (no, going to the welfare office did not make sense, but the SSA bureaucrat told us that applying for public aid might “move things along” in our efforts in getting a SS number). In the HHS office there was a large sign that proudly proclaimed WE DO NOT VERIFY THE IMMIGRATION STATUS OF APPLICANTS.

(To make a long story short, we did not apply for welfare. The whole thing was rather seedy and sordid, not to mention fishy. After over a year of effort we went to the regional SSA office and *finally* got my wife’s SS number.)

That’s how Zeituni Onyango and many thousands of other felons live off of taxpayers – through a bureaucracy with its own agenda. A Federal bureaucracy cannot create new laws, but it can refuse to enforce existing laws, and that’s what is going on in Onyango’s case. And when backed up by activist judges they move government beyond the reach of the American people. Recently judges ordered the restoration of fraudulent names to voting rolls in Ohio and other states. This is what a dictatorship of the “smart people” looks like.
