Crushing Average Americans
Think Obama’s plan to redistribute income (point taken from commenter Dorf) is scary? No? Well, maybe you’re able to rationalize that it will only be taking from “the rich”. (Which means you have not been paying attention to the ever diminishing definition of what constitutes rich from the Obama camp. It’s down to $120,000 and dropping fast.)
This should get your attention: Obama plans – fully intends – to make energy prices skyrocket. Those are his own words about his own plan.
You know, when I was asked earlier about the issue of coal, uh, you know — Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because I’m capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it — whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, uh, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers.
The earlier comments about coal are part of this: Obama fully intends to destroy the coal industry and bankrupt anyone who builds a coal plant in the US.
So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.
So all you coal producing states out there, prepare to see your economies destroyed as the grand Obama plan goes into effect. Because they will be. Completely.
If a sharp rise in gasoline prices caused as much havoc and pain as happened just a couple of months ago, how much will be wrought if the cost of electricity skyrockets? How many more will lose jobs because their companies can’t afford the energy costs? How many people will lose their homes when they can no longer afford electricity and the cost of a mortgage. How many seniors on fixed incomes will have to chose between food and electricity?
Worst of all, the people who will be the most crushed by these prices are the very ones Obama purports to care about. The middle class will be destroyed by this. The lower income people and seniors on fixed incomes will be utterly devastated.
The Obama plan would crush average Americans. There is no other way to describe it. And again – those are his own words describing his own plan.
Think hard folks. Think really hard.

As do I.

I would be surprised if Obama could pull this off. It would require the cooperation of Dem senators from coal producing states. As malleable as Obama has appeared in the past, I suspect said dem senators would march into his office and read him the riot act, and he would back down.

That’s the beauty of the plan. If lower income folks can’t afford energy costs(or anything associated with them: food, transportation, etc) they’ll have to rely on government handouts in order to survive. More government dependent citizens, more compliant, locked in voters.
It’s win/win!

I looked up “coal-producing states” last night, and found the top ten (of 27) states have 135 electoral votes.

It is not just coal producing states. Coal produces over half of our nation’s electricity. If you factor that into the equation, he is talking about bankrupting probably about 1/3 of the entire economy.
Lets not forget about the laws of unintended consequences.

Micheal Steele said on FOX last night, “Wake up America and pull the Kool-aid IV out of your arm. He is telling you in his own words what he wants to do.”
Barrack not only wants to spread Joe the Plumbers wealth around, he wants to spread America’s wealth around. He will tax Americans “carbon credit” and send that wealth to third world countries. Buying there carbon credits.
This will not help those countries any more than Lyndon Johnson’s welfare plan ended poverty in the U.S.
MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON US.

Why do yoou think, for the last 2 months he and Biden have been claiming to support clean coal? Was he lying then (in January when he gave that interview) or is he lying now? Either way you look at it the man is a liar.
“How many seniors on fixed incomes will have to chose between food and electricity?”
How many seniors on fixed incomes will DIE because they can’t afford to heat their homes? There are already a few every winter – how many more will there be under the Obama plan?
