… The media begins to report the facts. Not all of them by any means, but some. The Politico, which admitted being in the tank for Obama not long ago, also picks up the story that that “record” turnout is not real. (Yes, it is the same report I already posted about, but this post is not really about the turnout. It is about the media finally reporting something other than hand selected talking points of their political masters.)
Despite widespread predictions of record turnout in this year’s presidential election, roughly the same portion of eligible voters cast ballots in 2008 as in 2004.
Between 60.7 percent and 61.7 percent of the 208.3 million eligible voters cast ballots this year, compared with 60.6 percent of those eligible in 2004, according to a voting analysis by American University political scientist Curtis Gans, an authority on voter turnout.
He estimated that between 126.5 million and 128.5 million eligible voters cast ballots this year, versus 122.3 million four years ago. Gans said the gross number of ballots cast in 2008 was the highest ever, even though the percentage was not substantially different from 2004, because there were about 6.5 million more people registered to vote this time around.
What does this mean? Simple. It is not anywhere near as bleak as some pundits are making it out to be. A few percentage points, folks. Not – most definitely not – a landslide, despite the lopsided electoral result. If Gans is right – and I suspect he is – then this election had a lot to do with Republicans staying away from the polls. Not a great answer, but not exactly what the press has been reporting, either. And certainly not the bleak and embittered opinions being published in some quarters.
Is it time to get to work and work at doing better next time? You bet.
Is it time to roll over and play dead for a far left agenda?
Not likely.
Give up if you want to. I’ll keep fighting.

What it comes down to is that Obama won the election because of the color of his skin. Don’t think so? Let’s look at the figures. Blacks make up about 13% of the population and Obama won by 6% of the popular vote. Exit polls show that 95% of all black voters voted for Obama. If even half of those black voters had voted the other way we would be talking about President Elect McCain these days. Add in the white voters who voted for him mainly for the same reason, and there were a significant number, and you know he could not have been elected if he were white. Nobody wants to admit this because they don’t want to be accused of racism. After all, Geraldine Farraro was villified for saying so during the primaries. Well accuse away. I know I’m not a racist. Heck I voted for 3 balck candidates in our local and state races here and if Condie Rice had been willing to run I’d have voted for her with no problem.
